Terence McKenna - The world and its double







'It seemed to me that culture was a shabby lie, at least this culture anyway. If you work like a dog you get two hundred and sixty five channels of bad television and a german automobile. What kind of perfection is that? Our secular society, religion, is completely devalued and consumer object fetishism is the only kind of worth we collectively realise. I am sure you have all seen the t-shirt 'He who dies with the most toys wins.' That is the actual banner under which we are flying here and the level of unhappiness is immense."
